Faculty Positions

I currently hold a full time faculty position at Bridges Academy in Studio City, California in the High School Division.
At Bridges, I teach 9th and 10th grade developmental math. I have designed the curriculum to be both rigorous and relevant - incorporating problem solving and project-based learning.

In addition, I am part-time faculty at Glendale Community College in the Math Division.
At Glendale, I have been teaching remedial and introductory college mathematics, where I highly incorporate technology and active learning into my instruction.

Applied Introductory Algebra
I have a course published with Lernsys.com called Algebra for Applications and Problem Solving in which I guide students through an in-depth treatment of elementary algebra that they can apply to the real world.
I am currently developing a companion series for Youtube to supplement this course.

Check out my lessons on normal distributions and theory vs. practice! Also, started writing a book. A rough draft is there. You can read it, if you give me $7. It's about data driven instruction practices with examples from my classroom usage. You're welcome...

ExperienceI have been teaching mathematics since 2009. I have taught students from grades 5-14. I have worked with a students from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds as well as students with varying levels of cognitive and social-emotional development. I have also served as a teacher coach/mentor in many of the schools at which I have served.
I have worked in public, charter, and private schools in Ohio, Arizona, and California. I have a track record of success and a have maintained a deeply held belief that all students can learn. I recognize that it takes mistakes to learn and I have made many. Thanks to mathematics, however, I have made fewer. |

Mathematical Models for Data Driven Teaching and Learning - Two things have crossed in my mind. One of the them is content. The other is process. These are two variables in differentiated learning. I explain that teaching and learning can be both logical and functional. If we look at curriculm through the lens of mathematics, we can easily collect information about how well it works. We can measure it! You're welcome...
Untitled Companion Series to "Algebra for Applications" - I realized a few things when I wrote an online course. Keep it short. Keep it simple. Keep it to the point. In each of the lesson for the companion series, I give more applications of algebra in the context of what I assume a person would learn taking my course online. In the video supplements, students can ask questions in the comments to which I am able to respond. The greatest thing about learning online, is that we can all do it at our own pace! That has the potential to enable "Algebra for Applications" and other online course the ability to interact with its students and receive transformative feedback.
I will do my best to respond to any interesting questions and most common misconceptions. This will also be a forum to address any whoopies left over from the videos in "Algebra for Applications".
