Inspiration has struck me...why limit myself to teaching economically middle-class and affluent kids math, when so many students can benefit from my experience. Tutoring sounds like a great way to reach a broad and diverse set of people. Everyone needs a little extra help, but not all people can afford to get it. I understand that the greatest upward mobility -in all measures of success- is diversity. It keeps ideas fresh and questions the status quo. It is the instigator of change. If I truly want to reach a broader spectrum of people, I should make my rates proortionately as broad to accomodate. As economic adversity is a great barrier to accessing quality support, I should definitely make myself available to meet that need. |
